Kitchen Porter Job Descriptions:

The Kitchen Porter or as sometimes called the House Porter is generally responsible for making sure that the kitchen and ancillary areas are clean and tidy. The Kitchen Porters duties will include some or all of the following: Washing up, basic food preparation, food store maintenance and handling food deliveries. Other duties will include cleaning the fridges, ovens, machinery and corridors around the kitchen.

Being a Kitchen Porter is often considered to be the starting point for a career in the kitchen and can lead to progression into Commis chef once a good general understanding of food and cooking is understood
