![]() Job Description Chef de Partie:A Chef de Partie or as sometimes abbreviated - ‘CDP’ is also known as a ‘Line Cook’ or a ‘Station Chef’. A Chef de Partie will in most cases have climbed the career ladder from being a Commis chef which is a more junior position in the kitchen. This may take several years, especially in very high class / quality restaurants and hotels. A Chef de Partie may also hold the title or Demi Chef de Partie (slightly more junior) or Senior Chef de Partie (slightly more senior) before they move onto having more responsibility in a kitchen environment becoming a Sous Chef. A Chef de Partie is normally responsible for a particular area or section of the kitchen and will work in all areas from Larder through to the grill and fish sections to gain as much experience as possible. Some larger kitchens may well employ as many as 10-15 Chef de Partie’s if it has a large brigade in the kitchen.
