Baker Jobs Description:

Traditionally a baker is someone who makes and bakes bread products. These are not generally classed as sweet products but are mainly made from dough, flour and water. The difference between a baker and a pastry chef has been somewhat confused over the years but the difference being that a pastry chef concentrates generally on the sweet product such as cakes and sweet pastry.

The first bakers were thought to be the Egyptians back in 2600-2100 BC. The Romans then learnt from the Egyptians and from the Roman Empire the process of making bread then spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Now in modern times, a baker may work in a supermarket / chain store, a large factory or a small bakery.
